insanityto100 asked: Hi! O: Do you have a recipe for chocolate cake that uses a microwave? I'm a student living in a dormitory and our building doesn't have ovens or stoves =(
What an interesting question! When I lived in a dorm, trying to bake a cake never crossed my mind, so I haven’t tried it myself. But, there are several well-reviewed recipes online - so go for it!
Here is single-serving one that you can mix together and make in a coffee mug! The only bummer is that it calls for cake flour - a random ingredient.
Here is one that serves more people, and you microwave it in a glass square pan. It doesn’t specify cake flour.
- Read over the reviews to make sure you’re aware of any changes that make the recipe better.
- Check frequently. Microwave cakes have a tendency to be too dry, and microwaves all cook at different power levels. Under-doing a little bit will be much better than over-doing it.
- Improve it with add-ons. Just some canned whipped cream or ice cream or frosting will make it so much better! You can also make it the base for a sundae, and get toppings and sauces.
- There are lots of other pudding-based chocolate desserts you can make sans oven. I will post a recipe for Chocolate Peanut Butter pie later this week.
